Filmaura - Film Display Light
Lighting
Functional art piece designed for film photography enthusiasts to preserve and show case their film negatives.
As film photography gains renewed popularity, developed film carries growing emotional and artistic value for users of all ages. While many photographers carefully preserve their developed film, there are few display solutions that truly showcase its unique qualities. This project explores a lighting display designed to elevate developed film as an art object, offering an intimate way for users to revisit and share their work.

I visited multiple photography studios and interviewed many film photography enthusiasts and film owners to gain insights.
Insights
Trend: While digital photography has become more widespread, it has also led many to embrace film cameras as a means of achieving a more unique and personal aesthetic.

Overlooked Market: Few new film-related products reflect contemporary design, as film is still seen as a thing of the past.

Problems
Many people collect their film negatives and feel a strong emotional attachment to them, occasionally taking them out to view. However, they typically need to hold the negatives up to a light source in order to appreciate them.
Therefore, I aim to enhance viewing experience and and showcase the unique beauty of film negatives.
