Culture & Sustainability
Using reclaimed materials from Chongqing's old buildings to preserve the memory of its disappearing alley culture.
The development of urbanization is rapid in the world, such as my hometown Chongqing which is becoming an international metropolis between 2010-2021. However, many cities will have some social issues with the construction of modernization, as a large number of old buildings and streets are disappearing gradually, especially in Chongqing.
Thus, the purpose of this project is to present the aesthetic and cultural value of old buildings and remind people to focus on the protection of historical objects.
Background

Due to its unique geographical environment, many buildings in Chongqing are constructed on hillsides, creating a distinctive landscape and alley culture.
The old architecture and streets are not only iconic symbols of Chongqing's history and a repository of memories for the older generations, but also attract an increasing number of visitors today.

However, after more than two decades of rapid development and urbanization, Chongqing has transformed into a modern metropolis, and as a result, a large number of old buildings and streets are now facing demolition.
Therefore, I hope to preserve their unique charm and the rich memories they carry.
